AHS SENIORS ATTEND
GOVERNOR’S SCHOLASTIC HONORS DAY
Governor Asa Hutchinson and the First Lady hosted Scholastic Honors Day at the Governor’s Mansion on April 28, 2018. Scholastic Honors Day is held annually to recognize the academically top-performing seniors from each high school in Arkansas. Our two co-valedictorians from Atkins High School were invited to attend this event. Hayden Bowden is the son of Mark and Michele Bowden. He has accepted a scholarship to attend Arkansas Tech University in the fall and plans to major in Computer Science. Audrey DeLeuil has received a scholarship from Rhodes College and will pursue degrees in Biochemistry and Music. Her parents are Michael and Celeste DeLeuil.

The Atkins HS Band received a Division 1 Superior Rating at The Big D Classic in Dallas. Audrey DeLeuil received the Outstanding Solo Medal. The Atkins HS Choir received a Division 2 Excellent Rating as well. So proud of our kids. RDP!
CONGRATULATIONS JOEL WILLIAMS
Atkins High School would like to extend a "Tremendous Congratulations" to our Joel Williams, AHS Freshman, for scoring a 35 on the ACT, which is only one point from the perfect score of 36. Joel has accomplished many achievements his freshman year at AHS. He earned the All A's Honor Roll for the 1st semester, participated on the Jr. High Quiz Bowl team this school year, and placed on the First Band -Jr. High All-Region -1st Chair. Joel's goal is to attend MIT in Massachusetts after graduation in 2021.
READ TO SUCCEED
You already know how important it is for students to read. So does AHS!! That’s why we have been promoting “Silent Sustained Reading” during our Advisory Classes. Students may check out books in the AHS Library and their Classroom Libraries. “R.I.S.E” Arkansas encourages a culture of reading throughout the state, bringing together community partners, parents, and teachers to help students become lifelong readers. Please help encourage your children to read and support our reading initiative for the students to READ to SUCCEED!! Thank you!
AHS students are encouraged by our student recognition/incentive program that is based on the acronym of “PRIDE”. Students receive “Red Devil Pride Points” for behaviors that represent these attributes and are recognized.
Atkins High School is proud to be participating in the Arkansas Advanced Initiative for Math and Science (AAIMS) program that has proven in the past 8 years that students have increased their qualifying AP scores for college credit. Arkansas currently ranks 4th in the US in percent increase of student receiving qualifying scores. Also, Arkansas is 3rd in the US in percent increase of students taking classes and receiving qualifying scores. Please help our Atkins High School Faculty with encouraging your child to enroll in our AP classes. We offer AP classes in Math, English, Science, and Social Studies.
